The Avengers

Ah, the Avengers.

Of course Iron Man is at the front

Yes this is a little late to jump on the band wagon, but with new super hero movies about to come to our screens stemming from this one: I thought it was time to give my two cents.

Boring.

The film was overly long and tedious with only the final fight scene earning it any redemption.

Oh and the Hulk, who could forget him.
Admit it, he was cool.

Iron man talked entirely too much, his one liners slowly became annoying and so did he. Captain America could have been left out entirely and I felt, was only in it for the gear up to Captain America 2 (hopefully wont be as much of a train wreck as the first). The Hulk/Banner now played by Mark Ruffalo had a new interesting development. He now controls his extreme anger by his explanation of "always being angry."

People oohed and aahed at this but it really doesn't make much sense if you think about it, which is exactly why the film developers got him to stop a gigantic metal snake thing directly afterwards so you wouldn't have to think about it. Movie developers: 1 general public: 0.

Some of the characters felt thrown in like: Hawkeye who was boring but no one really cared about him much anyway, Black Widow who had to be one of the most annoying characters in the whole film and... oh yeah Nick Fury's black now?! Just joking but still. I felt more could have been done with this character.

However the Award for the: Most Irritating Character goes to Loki. The thing that probably irritates me the most is that he was weak, he walked around with a pole touching people's chest (which by the way could be easily countered) and was constantly being smashed about. What did he even get caught for? Well villains are supposed to be disliked so... well done.

Of course his appearance meant the appearance of his brother Thor (thought I forgot about him? Nearly did) Which is always nice...
Aren't they peachy?

All in all not a winner for me (I tried to like it, I watched it twice!) however I can see the appeal. The film attracted many people from different walks of life and had an audience ranging from children, teens and adults. The final battle scene was exciting but not worth the seemingly long 2 hour wait. As previously said the Hulk made this film somewhat bearable.

Buuuut this film felt like it was only a springboard to make more money from these characters. New films now coming: Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Avengers 2 and some others which are probably going to be bad. God forbid Black Widow and Hawkeye get their own flick.

Shudder.

5/10 from me.

Thanks for reading.

K.
